“The environment must be rich in motives which lend interest to activity and invite the child to conduct his own experiences.”
“The environment must be rich in motives which lend interest to activity and invite the child to conduct his own experiences.”
In designing our purpose built facility, the founder partnered with the architectural firm Red Dot Studio. Together they clarified and executed the founder’s vision for a beautiful, calm, and welcoming environment where children would be inspired to learn, feel ownership for the environment and the materials in it, and eventually come to treat it as a second home. The result of this collaboration is a bright cheery school with thoughtful elements that meet the needs of each child.
The tables, chairs, shelves, storage and even the sinks and toilets are readily accessible to children in size and height. Each classroom is kitted with the finest quality Montessori materials which meet the highest international safety standards. Oversized lantern ceiling lights, dramatic shelving, an indoor garden, large wall atlases, and a large collection of humorous literature in French and English are just a few elements reflecting the founder’s sense of whimsy and international perspective.
It must also be safe and healthy. Studio Montessori's fire, life, and safety equipment package as well as HVAC system are brand new meet the latest health department and fire department codes. Each classroom has its own air handler which turns over air every 2 minutes. We use MERV 13 air filters which catch 90% of dust particles between .3 and 1 microns (which includes sneeze droplets). Our service agreement with the HVAC installers ensures that the filters are changed bi-monthly and monthly if there are frequent fires.
